Failing Hunter

I first encountered Monster Hunter in 2018, which was after "World" landed on Steam, so I didn't experience the era of "posing after drinking medicine," "sharpening the blade for hunting preparation," and "full-screen mosaic." In my eyes, "World" is just a refreshing action RPG game. Besides that, there is nothing special.

When I first started playing, I would try to hunt alone. I once fought with a Barroth for an afternoon and finally defeated it when it was about to escape. The sense of accomplishment was indescribable. However, later on, hunting alone became too painful, so I started summoning other players constantly, and I only needed to observe their moves and avoid attacks.

I continued to follow this pattern until "Iceborne." Later, because my laptop's performance was too poor, I put the game aside for a long time. After buying a Switch, I heard about the release of "Rise" and eagerly entered the game on the first day. Once I no longer had to worry about performance issues, it felt like the spirit of hunting was ignited again. However, I still couldn't break free from relying on teammates. I didn't dare to face slightly larger monsters without a team. In the era of "Rise," after defeating Magnamalo, I obtained the "Seamless" skill, and I tried hunting alone. But to my surprise, I couldn't even defeat the Great Izuchi in the event quest. Frustrated, I threw down the controller and laughed at my own incompetence.

Thinking back on what attracted me to this game, the satisfying feeling of every hit and the thrilling movements. It seems so far away from me. I used to fantasize about practicing day after day, but in reality, it never happened. I am a lazy player, an inadequate hunter.

Fortunately, this is just a game, not real life.
